Limitations:

Solar hot water system is one of the systems that have many benefits with few limitations. It was widely used in China, Europe and United States. In US, especially in the west coast, a lot of solar hot water systems are used.

 

Climate Limitations:

The solar hot water systems are based on the solar energy; therefore, when there is no sun shine or the sun shine is not enough, the solar hot water systems could not generate sufficient hot water and the temperature of the water will be very low.

 

Initial Cost:

The solar hot water systems have relative quite high initial cost which includes the equipment cost and installation cost.

 

Equipment:

The systems need the freeze-thaw protection depending on the local climate. Additionally, the solar panels have to be placed on the roof where they can absorb the sun light, which addition space needs design. Finally, the solar hot water systems need additional electric hot water system to be the backup for emergency or in the bad climate situation. 

 

 

Construction Issues:

 

The solar panels have to be placed on the roof the building; therefore, the space design might be an issue. In the installation and construction of the systems. The pipes have to go through each wall and connect with solar panels on the top. The pump is needed for pumping the water circulation.
